Recurrent Made Easy – Systems Practice Test

When a depressurization occurs, passenger oxygen generators are designed to provide a limited, reliable supply of oxygen while the crew manages the situation and passengers prepare to evacuate. The duration of oxygen from these generators is fixed by their design, and for passenger use it is set to roughly the time needed for the cabin to remain safely oxygenated long enough to complete the immediate emergency steps.

The standard figure used in many training references for how long passenger oxygen generators last is about 13 minutes. That’s why this option is the best match among the choices. Ten minutes is typically too short for a full emergency descent and safety procedures, while 20 or 30 minutes would exceed the intended duty cycle of passenger generators. The 13-minute duration aligns with how these systems are engineered to support passengers during the critical minutes after mask deployment.
